To assist individuals with the completion of Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance forms with the view of helping them receive these discretionary benefits.

Swansea Carers’ Centre currently has the following volunteering opportunity:

Welfare Benefits Volunteer

Home visits

  • Collect forms and appointment details from the Carers’ Centre
  • Visit individual at the arranged time and assist them in completing the forms
  • Treat the individual with respect and using a caring and considerate manner gather all the relevant information to be able to satisfactorily complete the forms
  • If at any time you feel uncomfortable in the home, make your excuses and leave
  • The visit can take up to 2 hours and must be completed within working hours
  • Once complete, return to the office, photocopy forms and hand forms into reception

Office based appointments

  • Arrive at the centre in good time for the appointment 
  • Collect forms and appointment details
  • Meet with the individual at the arranged time and assist them in completing the forms
  • Treat the individual with respect and using a caring and considerate manner gather all the relevant information to be able to satisfactorily complete the forms 
  • The visit can take up to 2 hours and must be completed within working hours
  • Once complete, photocopy the forms and hand into reception

  • To participate as a member of the team
  • To work at all times within the philosophy of Swansea Carers’ Centre
  • To comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and with Swansea Carers’ Centre policy, paying particular attention to the reporting of dangerous situations
  • To respect the personal choice and lifestyles of colleagues, carers and people with care needs, ensuring that Equal Opportunity and Diversity principles are applied at all times
  • To ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • To comply with the Volunteer Agreement
  • To undertake any other duties that may be considered commensurate with the role of volunteer

All volunteers will be subject to an enhanced CRB disclosure.  Training provided. 

Volunteers can be from age 16+
