VOLUNTEER MENTOR SCHEME
The Prime Cymru Volunteer Mentor Scheme is a new initiative established with funding from The Welsh Assembly Governments' Active Communities Programme and Lloyds TSB Foundation. It is being developed to add to the range and scope of professional support that Prime Cymru can offer clients who are seeking to make changes in the purpose and direction of their lives. The scheme will be Wales wide and connect people in voluntary learning and support partnerships. We are initially starting in North West Wales and rolling out across Wales over the next two years.
Our aims:
• To motivate and inspire mature learners and help them generate positive action in their lives
• To support people of 50+ who wish to develop small businesses from start up to growth
• To connect mature people with individuals and agencies that can act as a resource for their development, through volunteering, employment or self employment
• To promote the building of self esteem and confidence in mature people who are seeking new purpose and direction in their lives
Our values:
• The Prime Cymru Volunteer Mentor Scheme seeks to support and inspire mature individuals, and be inspired by the people we work with
• We see our work as establishing partnerships between people who are seeking new goals, and people with the experience and background to support them
• We wish to provide opportunities for people of 50+ to, develop networks, plan their own futures and be successful
• The work of Prime Cymru is inclusive. We wish to encourage mature people of all backgrounds to develop in their own way.
Could you share your skills, experience and knowledge for a few hours a month?
We are looking for people who want to share their skills and experience to help people aged 50 and over who want to start their own business, looking for paid employment, volunteering opportunities or wish to undertake some training or further education
We recruit and train mature people to work as Mentors with people of 50 and over.
Being a Mentor offers you the opportunity to develop your personal and professional skills and give something back by helping others with the experience and knowledge that you have learned.
What is Mentoring?
Mentoring is about bringing people together in a way that they gain from the experience. With mature clients it is a way of sharing life and work experiences in a way that can make a difference to people who are seeking to change direction in their lives.
