Newport Links CALDT (Community Adults Learning Disability Team) is a team of health and social care professionals who provide a range of services and help for people over the age of 18 with a learning disability. Support is also given to carers, such as family and friends, who look after people with a learning disability.
Newport Links CALDT (Community Adults Learning Disability Team) has a fantastic opportunity for a Volunteer Befriender.
The aim of the Volunteer Scheme is to facilitate friendships and enable adults with learning disabilities increased opportunities for leisure, learning, training and voluntary work.
Volunteers will encourage and support clients to participate in a range of leisure and social activities which maintain and develop the Service User’s wellbeing, skills, hobbies and interests. Examples of activities carried out by volunteers and service users are meals out, cinema, shopping, walks, swimming and gym visits. This role involves befriending people with learning disabilities in order to help them access leisure, education and voluntary work.
Volunteers will be required to report any issues/concern to volunteer organisers and participate in training and induction where required.
