What does the role involve:

  • Contacting supporters e.g. volunteers, people organising fundraising events and collating enough information to write an article for the local newspapers.
  • Asking them for photographs or taking photographs to support the article.
  • Sending articles to local newspapers.
  • Helping to generate local publicity to raise awareness about local projects and encouraging people to support the charity by volunteering, donating funds or organising their own fundraising events.
  • Identifying local sources of communication materials e.g. parish newsletters, neighbourhood watch magazines, local newspapers etc and writing articles about the charity to raise the profile in the community.
  • Potentially organising publicity for local schools participating in our Jump Rope for heart programme (fundraising skipping initiative) to raise awareness about the scheme.
