Helping older people
WRVS is an age positive charity that offers a range of practical services to help and support older people to live well, maintain their independence and play a part in their local community.
You may be looking for help for elderly people. The good news is that WRVS helps older people across Great Britain in their homes, in the community and in hospitals.
We work in partnership with other charities and organisations, local authorities and the NHS, supporting communities throughout England, Scotland and Wales to be strong and cohesive.
How does volunteering help?
Volunteers play a vital role: nearly 53,000 of them - both men and women - give up their time to offer help to other people and to make life better in their communities. Together with WRVS staff they deliver professional services with a friendly face.
Our shops, cafés and trolleys serve hospital patients, staff and visitors with the added warmth of friendly understanding volunteers.
Volunteers are needed to help run the service or serve customers, take payment or prepare drinks and snacks and provide a listening ear. Volunteers ensure the outlet is stocked properly and that it is kept clean and tidy as expected in a hospital environment.
This is an ideal opportunity if you want to want to make a difference to the lives of older people in your local community and your local hospital, make new friends and develop skills in catering, retail and working in a hospital environment.
