Volunteer 'Bodies' hide from mountain rescue search dogs during training sessions, usually lying down on a hillside or in a forest somewhere in South Wales. The dogs then train to find missing people by locating our 'bodies'.
SARDA organisations exist across the UK, to provide specialist search dogs and handlers to work with Mountain Rescue and on police call outs to search for missing vulnerable people. For these dogs to operate effectively, a programme of continual training and development is in place. The most vital part of training is that we have volunteers willing to hide from the dogs, so that they have somebody to search for. Without these volunteers, we cannot train, making this role the most essential part of SARDA's work. By volunteering with us, you are directly contributing to saving the lives of the people we are searching for.
