Suggested tasks: • support and co-ordinate the work of the MS support team • ensure that effective communication about support work takes place with the branch committee, for instance by attending branch committee meetings, liaising with the branch chair and making reports • ensure that the MS support work undertaken meets the needs of the branch, in particular complying with the Branch Essentials • develop collaborative relationships with health and social care professionals (particularly MS specialists) and ensure that the work of the branch links with them • have a basic knowledge of statutory services and refer people on appropriately • have a basic knowledge of benefits and refer people on appropriately • receive and distribute MS Society information booklets as necessary • maintain an up-to-date list of relevant local services for people affected by MS, and distribute it to other members of the team and through the branch newsletter • ensure that the branch has a contact phone line and to be the contact person if there is no specific volunteer for this • ensure that grants are dealt with effectively, if there is no specific volunteer to do this • communicate effectively with other members of the team, and link the work of the support team with the branch

To co-ordinate a wide range of awareness raising and fundraising events and activites, and involved as many members, volunteers, friends and people from our local communities as possible

This is very much a ‘hands on’ role, and ways of planning and organising wvwnts will vary accordingly to the type of event and the people onvolved in that event

The types of tasks / activites you could be involved with:

-         Working independently or with colleagues of Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) to plan, target and respond to invitations to events which could provide information and / or fundraising opportuniites

-         Helping to develop and maintain contact with local organisations and indidivuals, to raise the profuile of THT

-         Taking a PR role in encouraging volunteers, members and friends to support THT through taking part in fundraising and awareness raising events and projects

-         Encouraging individual volunteers / members to help out with specific events or projects

-         Applying, with guidance from THT coporate fundraisers, to businesses for corporate sponsorship or to appropriate charitable trusts

-         Helping to develop and implement new ideas for raising awareness and funds
